Blunt to Edged Weapon Awareness Training
A highly interactive course that develops new skills ranging from subject control to dealing with blunt and edged weapons.
Participants will learn the following skills:
- Basics of crisis management including violent subjects, subjects under the influence of drugs or alcohol and the mentally ill subjects.
- How to use body manipulation to gain and maintain control of a subject.
- How to dissolve an attack through evasion and movement
- Intro to edge weapon weapon basics (controlling edged weapons, evade basics, disarms, and counter striking)
Purpose Statement: This is a highly interactive course for the officer that is looking to develop new skills ranging from subject control to dealing with blunt and edged weapons.
Law Enforcement Physical Tool Training (LEPTT)
This course is for the officer’s looking to improve their empty hand force options skills in handling violent subjects. By improving empty hand skills officers become more confident in hands on encounters keeping both them and the subject safe by using the right tools to prevent escalation of the force options continuum. This training is designed to work with in the guidelines of DAAT. Areas that are covered: evaluations and blocks, basic striking, basic movement, body manipulation and off balancing, blunt and edged weapons defense, ground defense, multiple attackers, escort and restraint techniques. The LEPTT program is used as a dynamic application of a trained techniques within the framework of the DAAT model.
